Birthday Girl Tenille Townes Takes The Commodore Ballroom Stage

Tenille Townes, wasn’t even able to get a word in before the sold out crowd began serenading her with a joyous “Happy Birthday.” The Alberta native, was visibly emotional at the love being poured in her direction. There was more than a few moments throughout the night that the gracious crowd got to the newly minted 29 year old. But that didn’t stop her from leaving it all on the stage. The energy, and presence she brought could be felt throughout every inch of the room. Her vocals bringing something extra to a live setting than what’s on the album. The same goes for her guitar playing. At one point the band dropped out and it was just her and her guitar on stage. It took me a few songs to realize that it was only her up there. She was captivating enough that the band didn’t need to be there, and you didn’t notice that they weren’t, bringing all the dynamics with her singing and strumming that you’d ever need. Not to knock the rest of the band, but they really are the cherry on top of the sundae.

One things for certain. You don’t have to be a country fan, to have a ball at a Tenille Townes show.

“…The fact that each and everyone of you guys just bought a ticket and have completely sold out the Commodore Ballroom…That’s just the best Birthday gift ever…”

"Come on Vancouver, Let's keep this party Going"

“I just want to thank you guys for telling me your stories.”

“We’re going to have ourselves a good time tonight. We’re going to dance, let go of our worries and come together. Everybody who walks through the door…I wan’t us to be this community of people who just show up with arms wide open. For each other…a room full of love.”

“I want to share a song that makes me think of my great-grandmother…I got to spend 20 years of my life with my great-grandmother, and she was amazing. She’d come out to all these shows, rain or shine, and she’d sit in the front row, she’d be drinking her cheap Lucky beer.

"This song is about the cruel voices in all our heads sometimes."

“Vancouver, thank you. I’ll never forget this night. I can’t even with you right now…and this venue, all the history.”
